A Leesburg man with a history of driving without a license was charged with it again after he was stopped for having a tag light out on his vehicle.

Police spotted 24-year-old Sarain Ramirez driving a white pickup truck with no tag light traveling westbound on Griffin Road early Saturday morning, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department.

The officer initiated a traffic stop and explained the reason for the stop to Ramirez, the report said. Ramirez, a native of Mexico, said he doesn’t have a driver’s license and instead provided his name and date of birth.

This information was used to confirm that Ramirez did not have a driver’s license, only an assigned number. The officer also discovered that the assigned number was suspended in November 2012 for driving with an unlawful blood alcohol level, in February 2022 for driving under the influence and in March 2022 for failure to pay financial responsibility, according to the report.

Because of this, Ramirez was placed under arrest on charges of driving while license suspended for DUI (3rd subsequent violation) and operating a motor vehicle without a driver’s license. He was also given a traffic warning for driving with no tag lights. He was taken to the Lake County Jail and released after posting $10,000 bond.
