Jimmie “Jim” C. Payne of Mount Dora, Florida passed away on Tuesday April 25, 2023, at the age of 81.
Jimmie was born in Junction City, Kentucky on August 22, 1941, to his parents Roscoe and Lola Mae Payne. Jim moved from Burgin, Kentucky to the Central Florida area in 1957. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Pine Hills. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge. He was known for being an avid tennis player (5 times a week), and a member of the Orlando Tennis Club. Being from Kentucky, horse racing he followed throughout his life. He worked for Lockheed Martin for 31 years. On December 22, 1959, he married the love of his life Diane Payne.
Jimmie is survived by his wife of 63 years Diane Payne; children Eva Jil Ware and James Byron (Sheila) Payne; brother Donald (Noren) Payne; grandchildren Kristyn Ware, Koleton Ware, Emma Jil Payne, and Brayden James Payne.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday May 4, 2023, in the Hamlin & Hilbish Chapel at 2pm.
