A Minneola man pulled over for not wearing a seatbelt was arrested after methamphetamine was found inside a jacket in his vehicle.

Clermont Police conducted a traffic stop for a seatbelt violation on a maroon Mercedes sedan near 741 E Highway 50 at around 1:44 p.m. Wednesday, according to the police arrest report. The officer issued a written warning to the driver, 58-year-old Zack Eligie Skipper, who consented to a search of his vehicle.

During the search, officers found a clear plastic bag inside a jacket pocket sitting in the rear passenger seat. The bag contained 2.6 grams of a white crystal-like substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine.

Skipper said he didn’t know what police found in his vehicle but guessed it was “coke.” While he denied using cocaine, Skipper admitted to using methamphetamine and that he last used about one week ago, the report said.

The Georgia native was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine. He was transported to the Lake County Jail and released after posting $2,000 bond.
