Man on trial for DUI manslaughter flees courthouse during lunch break

A Mount Dora man on trial for DUI manslaughter in the deaths of three people failed to return to the Lake County Courthouse after a lunch break on Tuesday.

Police are searching for 36-year old Zachery M. Waldo, who is on trial for a wreck on Christmas Eve of 2019 that left three members of a Eustis family dead and another critically injured. Waldo has a felony record and the public is urged to use caution if they come in contact with him.

Waldo was arrested in August 2020 and charged with three counts of DUI manslaughter and single counts of  DUI with serious bodily injury, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, fleeing/eluding with no regard to public safety, aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer, possession of marijuana with intent to sell and possession of drug paraphernalia. He’s currently out of jail on $148,000 bond.
