Barbara Mason Dawson, 97, of Mount Dora went to her Heavenly home January 8, 2023. She was born in Memphis, Tennessee on September 10, 1925.
Barbara earned a Business Certificate and a degree in Home Economics from Brenau College. She later worked as an airline stewardess for 5 years, which she stated was her favorite job. Barbara married Dr. William Mason in September 1951, with whom she had 3 children. After his retirement, they moved to Florida, and he passed in 1993. In 1998 Barbara married William Dawson (d 2010). In her later years, Barbara took up ballroom dancing, which she loved and thoroughly enjoyed.
Barbara was a longtime, active member of LifePointe Church in Eustis, Florida where she was loved, admired and developed many friendships.
Barbara is survived by her son, Commander Robin F. Mason, USN, 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, and step-daughter. She was preceded in death by her daughters Barbara Hightower Mason and Margaret Mason Daum.
She deeply loved her family and was a friend to everyone.
To honor her memory and life, a memorial will be held on February 24, 2023 at 3PM at Life Pointe Church in Eustis and a reception will immediately follow at Lakeside Inn. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Lake Cares Pantry (lakecares.org).
