A Leesburg  woman was arrested after telling a police officer “you better get the dog.”

Eustis officers were alerted that a driver in a silver Mercury car was driving erratically on County Road 44. The Mercury was seen leaving the Starvos and Sons restaurant. An officer clocked the Mercury traveling 65 miles per hour in a 45 mph zone. The officer stopped the Mercury at the intersection of County Road 44 and Sparrow Lane.

An officer made contact with 28-year-old Kristi Lynn Foster of Leesburg. As the officer spoke with Foster he noted that she was slurring her words and her eyelids were droopy. The officer asked Foster if she had any illegal drugs, guns or paraphernalia in the car to which she answered, “No.” When asked if the officer could search the car for any of those items she said, “You better get the dog.”

Foster agreed to attempt to take part in standardized field sobriety exercises, but showed signs of impairment. She was placed under arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. A K-9 officer with his dog, Hulk, did an open air sniff test. Hulk alerted on the vehicle and a search revealed five freshly empty vials and one vial which still contained methadone, a controlled substance for which Foster did not have a prescription. Fentanyl was found in the car as was drug paraphernalia . The officer also found Ondansetron, Baclofen and clindamycin hydrochloride in the car for which Foster did not have a prescription .

Foster was taken to the Lake County Jail where she gave two breath samples which came back as .00. Foster refused to provide a blood sample but said she would give the officers a urine sample. After three hours in police custody she was still unable to produce a sample.

Foster was charged with possession of controlled substance and drugs without a prescription, possession of drug paraphernalia  and driving under the influence. She was released after posting $5,000 bond
