A business owner was startled to find a woman sleeping inside his bubble tea shop in historic downtown Clermont.

Lake County Sheriff’s Office dispatch received a 911 call this past Tuesday after the woman was found sleeping inside Teamont Boba located at 821 W. Minneola Ave. in Clermont.

When awakened by the owner shortly before 7 a.m., the woman, later identified as 37-year-old Jacqueline Parmenter, got up and left the store. The store owner followed Parmenter as she walked down 8th Street toward State Road 50. He described her as wearing a backpack and wearing a medical boot on her foot.

Officers found her in the parking lot of the nearby First United Methodist Church. She told police that she entered the store through a backdoor that was being held open by some zip ties and that she did not steal anything, but just need some food and a place to sleep.

The store owner told the police that she was wearing a sweatshirt that was for sale in the store when he first saw her and that she had taken it off when he confronted her. She was also seen on security video fixing herself a sandwich from food she found in the store.

She was transported to the Lake County Jail where she is being held for burglarizing an unoccupied structure. Bond was set at $5,000.
