She told the officer that she had gotten into an argument with 19-year-old Wesley Yoder when she started to damage the sofa, Yoder slapped her. She said that she grabbed his pant leg as he was walking away and that her fingernail tore when it got stuck in his jeans. The officer saw no signs of injury to the woman face. She told the officer that that she would not sign a statement and she would not cooperate with the investigation.

When the officer made contact with Yoder he admitted that they had been arguing but he denied ever striking the woman. He was placed under arrest on a charge of domestic battery. He was booked at the Lake County Jail and released after posting $500 bond.
