A Leesburg man ran from police officers at Ski Beach in a bid to avoid arrest.

Leesburg police were dispatched at about 2 a.m. Nov. 4 to Ski Beach regarding a suspicious vehicle in the park, which closes at 10 p.m.

Officers found 25-year-old Tremayne Thomas getting into a car. They could see him reaching under the driver’s seat. The officers told him to exit the vehicle which he did. Two baggies were felt in Thomas’ front pocket during a pat down search. Thomas, who has multiple previous arrests, refused to consent to the officer reaching into his pocket. Thomas took off running toward the lake with both officers in pursuit. As Thomas got to the lake, he threw the baggies into the water. He headed for the entrance to the park where he was tased and placed under arrest.

Thomas was booked at the Lake County Jail on charges of resisting arrest and tampering with evidence. Bond was set at $10,000.
