Lake County sheriff’s detectives aided Volusia County deputies in tracking down and arresting a Leesburg man who allegedly stole a Jeep SUV.

The Volusia County deputies suspected that 27-year-old Cody Randall Moxley may have taken a Jeep SUV stolen out of Volusia County and secreted it at a residence located on Seaforth Road in Sorrento. The Jeep had been stolen in Wildwood.

The Lake County detectives began watching the residence Monday morning and were able to see a Jeep SUV behind a privacy fence at the residence. The property owner gave the detectives permission to enter the yard and examine the Jeep which they confirmed was the stolen vehicle. The detectives were joined by the Volusia deputies when they found Moxley hiding in a shed on the property. Moxley had fled from the Volusia deputies earlier that day.

Moxley was transported to the Lake County Jail where he was charged with grand theft auto. He was released after posting $7,000 bond.
