A DoorDash driver was arrested early Tuesday morning after she was found passed out in a handicapped spot at the Wawa gas station in Leesburg.

Wawa employees observed a woman who had passed out in a car and called the Leesburg Police Department.

The first officer to arrive at the Wawa found 38-year-old Desiree Mae Gross of Leesburg behind the wheel of a Dodge Charger which was parked in a handicapped spot. The car was in park and the engine was running when the officer approached the car. Gross woke up after the officer spoke loudly while rapping on the window.

The officer asked Gross if she had been drinking. Gross said she had not consumed any alcohol, but was really tired. She said she had been delivering for DoorDash and has nine children. She did say she had smoked some pot, according to the arrest report.

Gross agreed to take part in standardized field sobriety tests and performed poorly, according to the arrest report. Gross volunteered that she had taken a Xanax pill the previous day. She was placed under arrest for driving under the influence of drugs. At the Leesburg Police Department she gave two breath samples which showed .000 blood alcohol levels. She also provided a urine sample.

Gross was transported to the Lake County Jail where bond was set at $1,000 which was posted later that day.
