A Leesburg woman was arrested Saturday morning after allegedly attacking her 70-year-old husband.

The woman, 66-year-old Mary Anderson, had been drinking alcoholic beverages for several hours before the police were called to the couple’s Crossways Drive home, according to the Lake County sheriff’s deputy’s arrest report. The deputy was dispatched to the couple’s home after a 911 call had been received about the alleged attack.

When the deputy made contact with the husband, he could see that the man had been badly scratched and had multiple abrasions on his left arm. The husband showed the deputy a video he had made of Anderson kicking him earlier that morning. He told the deputy that they had gotten married earlier this month. He said Anderson is an alcoholic who takes prescription drugs and drinks which cause her to become violent. He told the deputy that she thought he hid her cigarette lighter and cell phone, which set off her attack on him.

When the deputy tried to talk to Anderson, she began screaming threats and racial slurs. She appeared to be extremely intoxicated.

Anderson was placed under arrest on a charge of domestic battery of a person over the age of 65. She was booked at the Lake County Jail and released after posting $10,000 bond.
