A handyman renovating a Leesburg woman’s bathroom was arrested after the woman’s $9,000 diamond ring and other jewelry went missing.

When the homeowner discovered the jewelry was missing, she contacted the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. She suspected that 42-year-old Jessie Allen King had taken them while working on the bathroom

A Lake County detective ran King’s name through pawn databases and found that King had pawned a ring at Cash Inn in Eustis. The owner of the ring identified the ring as her property. The manager of the Cash Inn pawn shop provided the detective with a Florida pawn form which had King’s signature and thumb print.

The detective called King who admitted he pawned a ring at the Cash Inn. After that call the homeowner received a call from King begging her not to prosecute him. King was arrested on Saturday on a charge of giving false information to a pawnbroker and dealing in stolen property. He was booked at the Lake County Jail with bond set at $6,000.
