A Leesburg man was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence with property damage Tuesday morning in Groveland.

A police dispatcher had received several calls that a silver car was driving erratically on State Road 50, according to an arrest report from the Groveland Police Department.

The officers found a silver Chrysler Sebring with the same plates as the silver car they had been looking for which had crashed into a SUV at the intersection of State Road 50 and Green Valley Boulevard.

The driver of the Sebring was identified by his Florida driver’s license as 63-year-old Roosevelt White Jr. The officer detected alcohol on White’s breath while talking to him. He also noted that he had bloodshot eyes and balance issues. After completing an accident report, the officer asked White to take part in field sobriety exercises, which White had difficulty completing.

White was arrested and transported to the Lake County Jail where he took a breathalyzer test which showed readings of .263 and .248 blood alcohol content. Bond was set at $1,000.
