A cook at Crazy Gator’s restaurant in Eustis was arrested on a drunk driving charge on his birthday.

Jerry Johnathan McLean, 29, of Leesburg, was driving a white Chevy at about 2 a.m. Wednesday in the area of County Road 44 and County Road 452 when he was pulled over for an inoperable tag light, according to an arrest report from the Eustis Police Department.

McLean told the officer he “just got off of work at Crazy Gator’s” where he is employed as a cook, the report said. He appeared to be “confused” and had a “dazed expression.” The police officer noted in the report that Crazy Gator’s closes at midnight.

McLean provided breath samples that registered .133 and .128 blood alcohol content.

The officer called McLean’s father and asked if he wanted to pick up the vehicle. McLean’s father asked if his son was being arrested for DUI. When the officer confirmed the DUI arrest, McLean’s father said, he “knew this was going to happen sooner than later,” the report said.

McLean was arrested on a charge of DUI and issued a warning for the inoperable tag light. He was booked at the Lake County Jail and released after posting $1,000 bond.
