19-year-old suffers fatal gunshot wound at his home in Leesburg

The Leesburg Police Department is searching for clues in the death of a 19-year-old who was shot at his home.

Damien Shiver died at UF Health-Leesburg Hospital after he was shot at about 1 a.m. Monday at a home in the 1600 block of Center Street.

He had been inside his residence when unknown persons fired multiple rounds into the home from outside. The residence was also occupied by six other people, including four young children, however no one else was injured during the incident, according to the Leesburg Police Department.

Shiver was taken to the hospital by ambulance, but died due to his wounds.  

Detectives are currently working to determine who may have been involved and what their motive may have been. However, at this time, there isn’t any suspect information available to provide, police said.
