A repeat shoplifter already on probation was arrested Wednesday night at Walmart in Leesburg.

A loss prevention employee observed 41-year-old Joseph D. Pearsall of Eustis conceal merchandise in his clothing, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department.

As Pearsall exited the store, police observed the employee confronting Pearsall and they placed him under arrest. The police found several items concealed on Pearsall’s person including a rifle scope, clothing, a watch and other small items.

A records search revealed that Pearsall has three prior theft convictions in the past 18 months and is on probation.

Pearsall was booked at the Lake County Jail on a felony charge of retail theft charge and for violating his probation. He was being held without bond.
