A Leesburg woman was arrested Sunday morning after allegedly slapping her boyfriend’s mother.

A Lake County sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to a residence on Lockwood Street. The dispatcher had received a call from the residence from a man who said that 50-year-old Dawn Renee Smith had slapped his mother twice, knocking her glasses off of her face, according to an arrest report.

When the officer arrived at the Lockwood residence he made contact with the boyfriend who said that he had seen Smith strike his mother and threaten to kill her. He provided a sworn affidavit describing what he had seen. When the deputy talked to the victim she explained how she had been struck by Smith and that her glasses had been knocked across the room.

The boyfriend became “uncooperative” when the deputy explained to him that the court would enter a no-contact order once Smith was released from jail. At that point the officer noted in the arrest report the boyfriend became “uncooperative.”

Smith was arrested and booked at the Lake County Jail on a charge of battery on a person over 65. Bond was set at $1,000.
