Carolyn Virginia Merrell

op0enCarolyn Virginia Merrell (89) of Leesburg, FL passed away October 3, 2021. She was born April 7, 1932 in Leesburg, FL where she lived most of her life. She graduated from Leesburg High School in 1950 and then attended Queens College in Charlotte, NC. She was employed by Sun Trust Bank of South Orlando, FL for 21 years where she retired in 1991, having served as drive-in supervisor. Carolyn was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Leesburg and Cornerstone Presbyterian Church of Franklin, NC where she had a second home. In NC, she served on the Board of Directors, was the activities chairman and the treasurer of the Pine Hill Mobile Home Park for 6 years. A member of the Leesburg Historical Society, she served as past president and secretary. Carolyn loved crafting, jigsaw puzzles, reading and traveling.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents Ed and Ping Merrell of Leesburg, FL and her daughter Diane Shoffner Collins of Orlando, FL. Survivors are her children, Robert F. Shoffner (Kim) of Zellwood, FL and Nancy Shoffner Landers (Jim) of Orlando, FL; her brother Rev. Robert E. Merrell (Gail) of Fruitland Park, FL and son-in-law Robert Seth Collins of Orlando, FL. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Sandy Herrell Miehe (Heiko), Ryan Mathew Cullity and Nicholas Patrick Cullity of Orlando, FL and Douglas Daniel Shoffner of Zellwood, FL; two step grandchildren, Lyndi Bible Donaldson (Jerry) of Eustis, FL and Jared Daniel Bible of Zellwood, FL; one great grandchild and four step great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at the Lone Oak Cemetery in Leesburg, FL on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at 11:00 AM.
