A drunk driving suspect in a golf cart was tasered after she struck a police vehicle at the Chipotle restaurant in Leesburg.

Sharon Rose Anderson, 42, of Tavares, was found at about 8 p.m. Thursday at the restaurant on U.S. Hwy. 441 with an open bottle of Michelob Ultra beer in her golf cart, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. After police made contact with her she attempted to drive away. An officer pulled his vehicle in front of the golf cart which then struck the rear passenger side of the patrol unit.

The officer attempted to take Anderson into custody, but she pulled away from him, according to the report. When he attempted to handcuff Anderson, she knocked the handcuffs out of his hands.

The officer warned Anderson that he was going to taser her.

“No you are not!” she said.

The officer tasered her and placed her in handcuffs.

The Leesburg Fire Department and Lake EMS arrived on the scene to remove the taser’s probes from her body. She was transported to Leesburg Regional Medical Center for evaluation.

Upon her release, she refused to participate in field sobriety exercises and declined to provide a breath sample.

She was arrested on charges of driving under the influence, battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest. She was booked at the Lake County Jail on $9,000 bond.
