A car reported stolen from a Tavares dealership was recovered after police used its GPS system to track its location and nab the suspected thief.

Robert Marks Jr., 46, of Leesburg, was caught in the front yard of a Mount Dora home at 1:54 p.m. on Monday with the missing 2016 Cadillac ATS in the driveway, according to an arrest report from the Tavares Police Department.

When confronted by police, Marks acknowledged taking the car from Deal Time Cars and Credit at 200 E. Burleigh Blvd., but he claimed somebody at the dealership Sunday had given him permission to do so. Tavares police say the dealership is closed on Sundays.

Marks was charged with grand theft and booked at the Lake County Jail. During his booking, police added a drug possession charge when they discovered a small amount of crystal meth in his pocket.

Bond was set at $4,000.
