A suspected Walmart shoplifter was found to be carrying syringes and cocaine in addition to stolen merchandise.

Eric Steven Knipp, 34, of Yalaha, entered the store on Citrus Boulevard in Leesburg this past Wednesday evening and took a shopping bag from the cashier’s counter in the jewelry department, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. He concealed merchandise in the bag and did not pay for it when he went to a checkout aisle and proceeded to pay for a drink and cigarettes. He was detained as he left the store.

A police officer arrived at the store and during a pat down found three syringes in Knipp’s pocket. A bag containing cocaine was also found in his pocket.

He was arrested on charges of theft, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was booked at the Lake County Jail on $5,000 bond.
