Leesburg man charged with exposing himself in parking lot

Desmond Seymore Harris

A 45-year-old Leesburg man remains in the Lake County Jail after he allegedly waved his penis at people in a food bank parking lot and then tried to run from the police officers who arrested him.

Desmond Seymore Harris, of 200 Church St. E1, was charged with indecent exposure of sexual organs and resisting an officer without violence after the incident, which happened shortly after 8 a.m. Monday in the parking lot of the Leesburg Food Bank, 503 N 13th St.

The woman who reported the incident told a Leesburg Police officer she was in the parking lot when Harris approached her, removed his penis from his pants and started masturbating. She said Harris walked closer to her and asked her to touch his exposed penis. The complainant called over her husband, who said Harris started waving his penis in his direction as well as towards passing cars, according to the police report.

The officer was interviewing Harris when he turned and started to flee from the area on foot. The officer called out for Harris to stop, but he continued to flee east along the city bike trail. Officers intercepted Harris near the intersection of North 13th and Edmonds streets, the report said.

Harris was being held in jail Tuesday on $2,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Lake County Court on April 13.
