Leesburg man popped for driving with suspended license

Matthew Brian D’Angelo

A Leesburg man was charged with driving with a suspended license after being stopped in Fruitland Park over reports of an unconscious woman in the passenger seat.

A Fruitland Park Police officer responded Tuesday to a closed business at Palm Street and U.S. Highway 27/441 after receiving a report of a woman passed out in the passenger seat of a parked car.  The vehicle left the parking lot as the officer arrived, according to the police report.

The officer conducted a traffic stop in the parking lot of 3201 U.S. 27/441 and spoke with the driver, 30-year-old Matthew Brian D’Angelo of 141 Grove Wood Circle, Apt. 303. A records search showed D’Angelo’s license is suspended for DUI and he has two prior convictions for driving with a suspended license, the report said.

D’Angelo was arrested and taken to the Lake County Jail. No information about the reported passed-out passenger was included in the police report.

D’Angelo was released later Tuesday on $10,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Lake County Court on April 12.
