Arlington Ridge man jailed on DUI charge after argument with mother

George Hamilton Gray

An Arlington Ridge man was arrested on his fourth driving under the influence charge after an argument with his mother.

Leesburg police had been called at 8:48 p.m. Monday to a home at 26601 Bull Run in the 55+ community where a woman said her son, 50-year-old George Hamilton Gray, had been arguing with her. She said he got into his Dodge Ram pickup with New York plates and drove away.

While police were at the home, Gray pulled into the driveway. His speech was slurred, his eyes were bloodshot and he was unsteady on his feet, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. The Buffalo, N.Y. native was asked to participate in field sobriety exercises, but he refused.

“I probably wouldn’t pass them anyway,” he told police.

An open can of Busch Light beer was found tucked in the driver’s side door of his truck. He also refused to provide a breath sample.

A check revealed several drinking-related arrests including in 1991 and 2010 in New York and in 2015 in Florida.

He was arrested on a third-degree felony charge of driving under the influence. He was booked at the Lake County Jail on $5,000 bond.
