The City of Leesburg will host a Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) public hearing on proposed changes at the Fountain Lake Trail crossing near Benton Street, just south of Palm Plaza.

A public hearing is being held Nov. 8 at 5 p.m. at the Leesburg Public Library so area residents can learn about proposed changes to improve safety and traffic operations on U.S. Hwy. 27/North 14th Street at the Fountain Lake Trail crossing, near Benton Street.

The hearing will be held Thursday, Nov. 8, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Leesburg Public Library, Meeting Room B, 100 E. Main Street. FDOT officials will provide an overview of proposed changes to improve safety and traffic operations on U.S. Hwy. 27/North 14th Street at the Fountain Lake Trail crossing, near Benton Street.

Proposed improvements include reconfiguring both sides of the trail crossing and installing a raised pedestrian island in the center lane, along with new signs and flashing beacons.

Members of the public will have the opportunity to express their views concerning the location, conceptual design, and social, economic and environmental effects of the proposed improvements.  The open house begins at 5 p.m., with the formal presentation starting at 6 p.m.
