A Summerfield man was arrested for driving with a license revoked for DUI out of Michigan.

An officer on patrol observed 46-year-old Evan Richard Hamstra driving a passenger car with a dimly lit license plate traveling south on U.S. Hwy. 27/441 at 11 p.m. Tuesday, according to an arrest report from the Fruitland Park Police Department.

After stopping the vehicle near Miller Street, the officer approached the front passenger window. Hamstra handed over an ID card and stated he did not have a driver’s license, the report said.

A subsequent check of his driving history determined his license was withdrawn from Michigan. It had been revoked for DUI on Nov. 8, 2007, and he had multiple withdrawals from Michigan. The report noted he was arrested in that state for driving with a revoked license on Oct. 7, 2008, as well, the report said.

Hamstra was arrested on charge of driving while license revoked for DUI. The native of Bangladesh was booked at the Lake County Jail and released after posting $10,000 bond.
