A homeless woman in Leesburg was arrested after a deputy found methamphetamine near her seat during a traffic stop.
A deputy stopped 40-year-old Massie Carroll Williams and the female driver of a maroon 2013 Nissan on Veech Road near Pruitt Street in Leesburg around 10:05 a.m. Tuesday, June 30, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

Before the stop, it was believed the driver was being held against her will. The deputy was already on scene at a nearby residence when he saw the vehicle down the road. As he learned this, the vehicle made a quick, illegal U-turn and began traveling in the opposite direction, the report said.
Believing the driver was in danger, the deputy initiated the traffic stop. He saw the two occupants moving around as if to conceal something inside the vehicle. He then approached the pair to investigate, during which Williams held up an open container of alcohol to the window, the report said.
The deputy then asked for the driver’s consent to search the vehicle, which she initially refused. After being told a K-9 unit would respond, she agreed to the search. He subsequently found a small white pill bottle deep within the passenger side door pocket, the report said.
Williams and the driver denied ownership of the bottle. Further inspection determined it contained methamphetamine. Williams held that the bottle was not hers, as she was a “crackhead” who did not use methamphetamine, the report said.
She was arrested on charge of possession of methamphetamine and booked at the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. She was released on her own recognizance and is responsible for appearing in court on July 27.
Williams was also arrested in Jan. 2025 after stealing the car of a Good Samaritan who allowed her into his home.
