A Leesburg woman will appear in court aftetr allegedly stealing $125 merchandise from Walmart.

An officer responded to Walmart, located at 2501 Citrus Blvd., regarding retail theft around 2 p.m. Monday, June 29, according to a case report from the Leesburg Police Department. Loss prevention had already detained 52-year-old Loretta Grace and her male companion in their office for stealing items.

An employee advised that he was reviewing surveillance footage when he observed the pair at a self-checkout register. Grace did not scan everything in her cart and concealed the rest in a black bin under bags of scanned merchandise. The two then paid for what they had scanned and left the store, the report said.

Loss prevention approached Grace and her companion in the parking lot and asked them to come to the office, the report said. They complied, and loss prevention determined they stole $125.71 in goods. These included Snapple tea, agave, avocado oil, coconut water, itch-relief cream, matcha, carne picada, chuck roast, hand soap and body wash.

Grace was issued a misdemeanor citation for retail theft with a court date of July 21. She and her companion were then trespassed from the store.
