Robert Sylvester Foshay, 92, of Leesburg, Florida died peacefully on June 28, 2026. He was born January 20, 1934, in Boston, Massachusetts and grew up in Milton, MA.

Robert received his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering at Northeastern University, in 1958. He was employed by the Department of Defense in Boston as Quality Assurance Engineer for 33 years.

In 1959, he married the love of his life, Barbara. They shared their wonderful 58 years in marriage before passing in 2017.

Robert’s father‘s family and relatives were from New Brunswick, Canada, where he always enjoyed spending time on family vacations. Bob and Barbara traveled extensively throughout Scotland, Ireland, Alaska, Egypt, and Europe, then spent their later years together at their cottage on Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire and their retirement home in Leesburg. They cherished the time they spent at the cottage, where they created many treasured memories with family and friends throughout every season. In retirement, Bob took up golf and enjoyed playing with friends in their retirement community, Royal Highlands.

Bob was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara Hambro Foshay, his parents, Purdy and Margaret “Peg” Pizzano Foshay and his sister, Marguerite Myrtle Foshay Rafuse. He is survived by his loving daughter, Ellen Foshay Fleming, son-in-law, Russell Fleming of Rome, Georgia and their three children and two grandsons. He is also survived by his sister, Dorothy Foshay Olson, of Marshfield, MA, and by several nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of his Life will be held at the Royal Highlands Community, Leesburg, Florida sometime in the fall. The family will provide details at a later date.
