Richard Curtis Baber, 58, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of cherished memories and the love of family and friends.

Rick was born on August 6, 1967, in Pontiac, Michigan. In 1985, he moved to Central Florida, where he graduated from Edgewater High School as a member of the Class of 1985. Florida quickly became his home, where he built a life centered on hard work, loyalty, and the people he loved most.

Rick was a devoted family man who took great pride in his work and found joy in the simple moments spent with those closest to him. Whether sharing laughter with family, working alongside friends and colleagues, or spending time with his beloved dogs, Huckleberry and Lennox, Rick lived with a generous heart and unwavering dedication. His kindness, dependability, and quiet strength will be remembered by all who knew him.

Rick was preceded in death by his father, Curtis Coleman Jr.; his brother, Andy; his maternal grandparents, Maurice and Betty Aubry; and his paternal grandparents, Curtis Coleman Sr. and Elizabeth. He is lovingly remembered by his life partner of 24 years, Allison Hartog; his daughter, Melissa; his mother, Darlene; his sister, Rebecca; his sister-in-law, Lisa; his nephew, Mason; his four beloved grandsons, Lucas, Landon, and Laker Van Dalen, and Cade Hartog, who lovingly knew him as “Paw Paw”; and many loving uncles, aunts, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever treasure his memory. He will be deeply missed by Colton, Caitlin, and Caleb Hartog, whom he helped raise, mentor, and guide through life with love, patience, and unwavering support.

Rick’s greatest legacy is the love he shared with his family and friends. Though he will be deeply missed, his memory will live on in the countless lives he touched through his loyalty, and enduring love.

A celebration of Rick’s life will be held on August 15, 2026 at Sunset Ranch in Altoona, FL from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that those who knew Rick honor his memory by spending time with their loved ones and extending the same kindness and loyalty that he showed throughout his life
