A Leesburg man was arrested after resisting the officers who came to charge him for battering his former stepbrother.
An officer responded to a battery at the Leesburg House of Meats, located at 900 CR 468, on the evening of May 18, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. The former stepbrother of 43-year-old Anthony Lorenzo Kizer stated he had been hit in the forehead.

He knew it was Kizer because they “were once stepbrothers, until he couldn’t have his way.” That evening, he had gotten a call from a friend to stop at the store to get something to drink. He then stopped at the Leesburg House of Meats to grab a drink and made his way to the cooler for a Gatorade, the report said.
The former stepbrother observed KIzer walking toward him in the same aisle. He tried to walk past Kizer, who asked, “What’s up?” When asked what he was talking about, Kizer pushed his head and stated, “I should do something to you.” He immediately called the police department, the report said.
Surveillance footage showed the former stepbrother turning down the first aisle to get a drink with the help of a store worker. Shortly after, Kizer walked into the business and turned down the same aisle. He walked past and turned around to speak, putting his fingers on his former stepbrother’s forehead and pushing his head back, the report said.
He appeared to say something before the two parties separated. The former stepbrother paid for his items at the register and walked outside to his vehicle, the report said.
Probable cause was established for Kizer’s arrest, so an officer responded to Days Inn, located at 1115 W North Blvd., to make contact with him June 29. Law enforcement was already surveilling the area, and once they spotted him, they surrounded him. Kizer barricaded himself in the room by closing the door and refusing to come out, the report said.
Officers asked him multiple times to come out of his hotel room over the course of five minutes. He opened the door but closed it again, refusing to come out for another five minutes. After several attempts, he finally came out but initially refused to get on the ground. He ultimately complied and was placed under arrest without further incident, the report said.
Kizer was charged with simple battery (one prior conviction) and three counts of resist officer without violence. He was booked at the Lake County Jail and released after posting $8,000 bond.
He was also arrested in 2025 after a jealous brawl led to the shattering of a Maserati’s windshield.
