A Leesburg man was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence after officers found him slumped over the wheel at a fuel pump.

Officers responded to Kangaroo Express, located at 1705 U.S. Hwy. 441, when 25-year-old Hunter Soileau parked at the fuel pumps after hours around 2:10 a.m. Saturday, June 27, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. He was found slumped over the wheel of a Chevrolet Silverado with the engine still running.

When an officer tried to wake Soileau, he drifted in and out of consciousness and repeatedly tried going back to sleep. Empty cans of Bush Light beer were inside the vehicle, which was then turned off. Soileau was asked to exit, and he was unsteady on his feet after doing so, the report said.

His eyes were bloodshot, watery and glassy as he spoke to law enforcement. His speech was slurred, and his breath smelled of alcohol. He refused to participate in field sobriety exercises, but he admitted that he had been drinking. He stated a friend left him at the gas pumps, and he could not explain how he came to be behind the wheel, the report said.

Soileau was arrested on charges of DUI and refusal to submit to DUI testing. The Louisiana native was booked at the Lake County Jail and released after posting $2,000 bond.
