
William Leon Turner, age 86, passed away on June 23, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and devotion to his family. He was born on March 28, 1940, in Atmore, Alabama. William spent his early years in Century, Florida, where he grew up and developed the values of hard work, faith, and family that would guide him throughout his life. He and his family later made his home in Central Florida, where he built a life centered on love, dedication, and service to those around him.
William was a kind and generous man whose warmth and gentle spirit touched everyone who knew him. He was known for his willingness to help others, his steady presence, and the deep love he showed to his family and friends throughout his life. He had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and found great joy in nature. Hunting and fishing were among his greatest passions, bringing him peace and countless treasured memories over the years. Whether spending quiet mornings by the water or spending time outdoors with loved ones, these moments reflected the simple joys he cherished most. William dedicated many years of service to Flowers Baking Company, where he built a respected career through hard work and commitment. He retired in 2002 as a customer liaison, leaving behind a reputation for professionalism, integrity, and kindness.
Above all, William was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his beloved wife, Shirley Turner, with whom he shared 65 wonderful years of marriage. Their enduring love was a beautiful example of loyalty, partnership, and devotion. He also leaves behind his two sons, Billy and Michael, who were a constant source of pride and joy throughout his life.
William was a proud and loving grandfather to Bryan, Savanna, and Shelbie, each of whom held a special place in his heart. He loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren dearly and treasured the time he spent with them, creating memories that will live on forever. Though William’s passing leaves a profound void in the lives of those who loved him, his legacy of kindness, strength, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished.
Visitation will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at Beyers Funeral Home, 1123 W. Main St, Leesburg, Florida. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m.
A funeral reception will be held at VFW Post 8087 in Mount Dora, Florida, beginning at 2:30 p.m.
