An Okahumpka man will appear in court for marijuana found in his shorts during a traffic stop.

An officer stopped a grey Mercedes in the area of Lone Oak Drive and Main Street around 7:40 p.m. Friday, June 18, according to a case report from the Leesburg Police Department. The driver, 73-year-old Cecil Hamilton, had not worn his seatbelt.

While speaking with Hamilton, the officer noticed the smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle. The officer asked about the odor, to which Hamilton stated he had shoved marijuana into his pants. A K-9 was used to confirm the presence of marijuana, and the officer discovered a 4.6-gram baggie of the leafy substance in the front of Hamilton’s shorts near his genitals, the report said.

Hamilton was issued a misdemeanor citation for possession of marijuana (less than 20 grams). He is due in court on July 14.
