A Clermont restaurant was temporarily closed last week after an inspector discovered numerous violations, including live roaches and droppings.
The inspector ordered all operations to be stopped at the Cedar Grill, 2407 S Hwy. 27, Clermont, on Tuesday, June 23, until major health concerns were corrected, according to reports from the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation.

Among the high-priority violations were live roaches spotted under a cooler in the kitchen and on the wall by a sink. Droppings littered the ground under soda boxes, under the sink, near a freezer and by shelves on the cook line.
Other violations included dead roaches throughout the kitchen, an open bag of salt with small insects inside, improper temperature control for gyro meat and improperly sanitized utensils. Built-up food debris, grease, dust or mold soiled the ceiling, floor, walls, fryers, coolers, the cook line, shelves and garbage cans. Additionally, the restaurant’s Division of Hotels and Restaurants license had expired on April 1.
The inspector returned the following day, when the restaurant met inspection standards. It was given extended time to address violations such as the expired license, cleaning build-up on the ceiling and bottom areas of the freezers and coolers, and setting up the sink to properly sanitize utensils.
