A Leesburg woman was arrested after trespassing at Walmart to steal $12 in drinks and bug killer.

An officer responded to Walmart, located at 2501 Citrus Blvd., when asset protection detained 48-year-old Faith Yolanda Barnes in their office at 3:50 p.m. Wednesday, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. An employee advised that she was on an electric cart when he recognized her as someone who had previously been trespassed.

On surveillance camera footage, the employee watched as Barnes placed items in her cart’s basket and headed to the self-checkout. She did not scan everything, and another employee approached her to help scan the missing items. Once the register was unlocked, Barnes continued the transaction without scanning what she had already missed, the report said.

She paid for some of the merchandise before attempting to leave the store. She was then stopped and escorted to the loss prevention office with one 12-pack of Gatorades and one Raid roach killer, totaling $12.26, the report said.

A check of her criminal history determined she had been convicted for theft in July 2024 and Jan. 2021. She had also been trespassed from the store in May 2024, the report said.

Barnes was arrested on charges of retail theft (two or more prior) and trespass. She was booked at the Lake County Jail without bond.
