A  teen was arrested with a fake ID after telling law enforcement it had been a graduation present from her parents.

An officer stopped 19-year-old Gabriella Anais Prado at Hancock Road and State Road 50 around 6:10 a.m. Tuesday, according to an arrest report from the Clermont Police Department. Radar confirmed her white Honda Accord was traveling 70 mph in a 50-mph zone.

After handing over her driver’s license, Prado stated she lived near Tampa. She was late for work in Orlando, which was why she sped, the report said.

The officer noticed her license was printed vertically, meaning she was under 21, and asked if she had any vapes inside the vehicle. She admitted that she had two vapes, bought by a friend. Due to this, the officer issued a citation for speeding and proceeded to search her vehicle, the report said.

Before starting, the officer asked Prado if there was anything else illegal in the vehicle that he should know about. She began to cry hysterically and advised that her fake ID was in the vehicle. It was a Georgia state license with a photo similar to her real driver’s license. The birthdate on the fake license made her over 21 years of age, the report said.

Prado stated the fake ID was a gift from her parents when she graduated high school, and she used it to buy wine. She had only done this once. She knew it was illegal, but her parents told her she would not get in trouble for it, the report said.

A subsequent search of the vehicle yielded three nicotine vapes and one possible THC vape, the report said.

Prado was arrested on charge of possession of a fictitious driver’s license. She was booked at the Lake County Jail and released after posting $2,500 bond.
