A Belle Glade woman and a man were arrested on drug charges after being stopped with baggies of cocaine.
An officer on patrol observed a green Honda Accord, occupied by 35-year-old Erica Monique Dautin and 44-year-old James Harris, near 14th and Sumter Streets around 2:10 a.m. Tuesday, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. The vehicle’s tag was not well-lit, but what was visible determined it was registered to a beige Toyota and had expired on May 1.

The officer subsequently stopped the vehicle at Besco Electric Supply Co, 711 S 14th St. The two passengers, including Harris, immediately exited the vehicle and appeared distressed. They were commanded to stay inside the vehicle, but neither listened, the report said.
Due to a verbal dispute between Dautin and the passengers, they were separated to be interviewed individually. Harris refused to speak, and a K-9 was brought to the scene to check the vehicle for narcotics. A positive alert mean law enforcement could search the vehicle, the report said.
Officers then found a plastic baggie with 0.2 grams of cocaine and a hand-rolled leafy substance within reach of Dautin. In the backseat were three more baggies, one of which contained 0.05 grams of cocaine. These were in reach of Harris, the report said.
Dautin and Harris were arrested on charges of possession of cocaine and drug paraphernalia. Both were booked at Lake the County Jail on $3,500 bond.
