A Leesburg man was arrested on two warrants after a K-9 was used to apprehend him.

Robey Kyle Jones, 46, was pulled over in Leesburg on the morning of March 6, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. Law enforcement searched through multiple black bags in the back of his vehicle, making him increasingly nervous. They then found a clear plastic baggie of methamphetamine and arrested him for it.

Since then, Jones not only failed to appear in court for this incident, but also for conspiracy to commit trafficking methamphetamine, conspiracy to commit introduction of contraband, and solicitation to commit introduction of contraband. Two warrants were then signed for his arrest.

Another LCSO arrest report indicated deputies received information about his whereabouts on Monday, when they responded to a residence on Terrell Lane in Leesburg. They first drove by the property and Spotted Jones sitting on a lawnmower in the driveway. He was facing away at the time, so one of the deputies got out to confirm it was him as he walked into the garage, the report said.

The rest of the deputies set up a perimeter around the residence and commanded Jones to come out using a PA system. A woman came out instead, confirming Jones was inside and trying to convince him to come out. He refused, and a K-9 was used to apprehend Jones inside the home, the report said.

After being medically cleared, Jones was arrested on charges of resist officer without violence, as well as failure to appear for conspiracy to commit trafficking methamphetamine, conspiracy to commit introduction of contraband, solicitation to commit introduction of contraband and possession of methamphetamine. He was booked at Lake County Jail without bond.
