A Leesburg man was arrested on drug charges after being stopped with marijuana and THC wax.

A deputy observed 22-year-old Lansing Robey Jones driving a blue GMC utility vehicle without wearing a seatbelt at 3:55 p.m. Wednesday, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. He was subsequently stopped at Okahumpka Park, 6085 E SR 44, Wildwood.

While speaking with Jones, the deputy noticed that his hands were shaking, a sign of nervousness. A check of his driving history determined his driver’s license had been suspended on June 1 for financial responsibility requirements. He stated he was unaware of this, the report said.

The deputy then asked if he had any weapons or narcotics, to which Jones handed over a small amount of marijuana from the center console. A more thorough search of his vehicle revealed a purple cylindrical device with marijuana residue and a baggie of THC wax, the report said.

Jones was arrested on charges of possession of drug equipment, marijuana (less than 20 grams) and THC. The Virginia native was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center and released after posting $4,500 bond.
