A Lady Lake teen was arrested after running away from law enforcement with two guns on his person.

Officers responded to a weapon complaint near the H.O. Dabney Pool, 312 Pine St., around 4:45 p.m. Saturday, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. A search determined 18-year-old Keion Revell Copeland was in the area with a Glock extended magazine and the bottom of a pistol grip sticking out of his pocket.

When an officer stepped out of his patrol vehicle to speak with Copeland, he made eye contact and ran behind a residence on East Street. He ignored commands to stop running, prompting the officer to call for backup. Law enforcement canvassed the area up to a wooded area on Park Street, where Copeland made his presence known by saying he had nothing, the report said.

Copeland was then detained so the officers could search for the firearms. They found two Glock magazines that were attached via a magazine coupler about a foot from where he had hidden himself. The max capacity of the two magazines was 22 rounds for .40 S&W. One magazine contained three rounds of brass FMJ and one hollow-point round, while the other contained 17 rounds of brass FMJ, the report said.

The officers subsequently contacted the Department of Juvenile Justice and learned that Copeland had a juvenile probation officer. He had been adjudicated as a delinquent and could not have any weapon or ammunition until he was 24 years of age, the report said.

Copeland was arrested on charges of possession of firearm/ammo by delinquent and resist officer without violence. He was booked at the Lake County Jail with bond set at $26,000.
