A Clermont woman was arrested after driving drunk in the parking lot of a behavioral school.
Officers responded to Better Life Academy, located at 1650 W Main St., regarding an intoxicated teacher, 55-year-old Amy Kathleen Shabluk, behind the wheel around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department.

Another employee had seen her driving and asked her to turn off the vehicle. He also closed and locked the parking lot gate so she could not drive away. He knew she was drunk because an officer had already been called to the school when employees smelled alcohol on her breath, the report said.
During that call, she was unsteady enough to use walls and countertops for support. An officer had also found an open bottle of Captain Morgan in the trunk of her vehicle, the report said.
The first officer on scene saw Shabluk step out of a gray Ford Bronco, and she later handed him the keys. She told law enforcement that she only wanted to drive around the corner to meet with her husband. She smelled of alcohol, and she remained unsteady with droopy watery eyes, the report said.
Shabluk subsequently agreed to participate in field sobriety exercises. Her performance, including loss of balance and using a building for balance, led the officers to conclude she was under the influence. She later provided breath samples of 0.293g/210L and 0.292g/210L, the report said.
Additionally, a check of her criminal history determined she had been convicted of DUI in 2019, the report said. In that incident, she had been involved in a crash at East Ride High School in Clermont.
Shabluk was arrested on charge of DUI and booked at the Lake County Jail. The Michigan native was released after posting $2,000 bond.
