A man from Mexico was arrested for driving without a license after being stopped for speeding by over 20 mph.

An officer observed 23-year-old Guadalupe Ramirez Gabriel speeding northbound in a black SUV around 11:15 p.m. Saturday, according to an arrest report from the Fruitland Park Police Department. Radar determined he was traveling 71 mph in a 50-mph zone.

The officer also saw the vehicle cross the solid fog line and strike the median, near where he was sitting conducting traffic enforcement. As he approached the vehicle for a traffic stop, it crossed out of its lane and almost hit the curb twice. The vehicle ultimately stopped at State Road 25 and American Lane, the report said.

Ramirez Gabriel handed over a Mexican ID card, which was used to determine he had no Florida driver’s license or ID. Additionally, during this interaction, the officer noticed an open beer bottle in the center console, the report said.

The native of Mexico was arrested on charge of no driver’s license (never had one), as well as issued citations for open container and failure to drive within a single lane. He was booked at Lake County Jail and released after posting $1,000 bond.
