Loss prevention advised that he had stopped Jones from passing all points of sale with stolen merchandise. She had not scanned $26.23 worth of goods at a self-checkout register. A check of surveillance footage confirmed she did not attempt to scan four items, the report said.

A subsequent check of her criminal history revealed she had two prior theft convictions in 1981 and in 2010, the report said.

Jones was arrested on charge of petit theft (two or more prior convictions). The Wisconsin native was booked at the Lake County Jail and released after posting $2,500 bond.
