A Clermont man was arrested for battery after allegedly hitting his wife when she returned from a Disney trip with their children.

A deputy responded to an undisclosed Clermont residence regarding a domestic violence incident around 10:10 p.m. Saturday, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. The wife of 45-year-old Abdugafur Khaydarov advised that he had beaten her.

She explained that she had just returned home from Disney with their three children and was bathing them. Khaydarov had been drinking, causing him to be rude and confrontational. When she tried to take her daughter out of his hands to bathe her, he raised his hands and punched his wife in the eye, the report said.

He then broke a little of her lip and threw her onto the bed by her hair. He hit her three times and told her to call the police. She sustained marks below her eye, a cut on her lip and a red mark on the left side of her face, the report said.

The wife originally wanted to press charges, but she changed her mind upon filling out an affidavit. She also did not want law enforcement to interview her children. None of them was harmed during the incident, and they all appeared to be in good health, the report said.

The deputy then spoke with Khaydarov, who stated he had been watching television when his wife returned from Disney. She was speaking inappropriately to their son, using profanity. He claimed he asked her multiple times to stop speaking that way to the children, but she continued directing profanity at them, the report said.

He only pushed her and did not fight her. He acknowledged drinking beer while watching the World Cup, but he denied having anything to do with the wounds on her face. Throughout the interaction, he stated he would go with law enforcement or stay at the residence, and it was up to them, the report said.

Khaydarov was arrested on charge of simple battery (domestic) and booked at Lake County Jail. The native of Russia who listed his occupation as an appliance repairman, was released after posting $2,500 bond.
