A Eustis man was arrested with cocaine after attempting to lock himself and his vehicle in a garage during a traffic stop.
A deputy on patrol observed a red passenger car approaching the intersection of Montclair Road and Thomas Avenue in Leesburg around 11:10 p.m. Wednesday, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. The driver, 34-year-old Sedale Demond Green, did not come to a complete stop before turning northbound on Thomas Avenue.

Seeing this, the deputy followed behind the vehicle until it pulled into a driveway on Stinon Street. The garage door was opening when the deputy turned on his emergency lights. Green proceeded to pull into the garage and tried to shut the door as the deputy got out of his patrol car, the report said.
He was able to trip the safety sensor at the bottom of the garage, causing the door to open back up. Green stepped out of his own vehicle at that point and left it running. He did not stop when commanded, instead fleeing into the residence, the report said.
Due to safety concerns, the deputy left the garage to wait for more units. Some time passed before Green exited the residence and was immediately taken into custody, the report said.
A K-9 was subsequently brought to the scene to check Green’s vehicle for narcotics. With a positive alert, the deputy searched the vehicle to find a small orange capsule in the driver’s door pocket. The powder inside tested positive for cocaine, the report said.
Green was arrested on charges of resisting without violence and possession of cocaine. He was booked at Lake County Jail and released after posting $3,500 bond.
