A Clermont woman will appear in court for misusing 911 when her child was kicked out of Dairy Queen after stealing soda with a group.
A deputy responded to an incident, later involving 37-year-old Takara Eylise Milbry, at Dairy Queen, 860 U.S. Hwy. 27, Clermont, at 2:45 p.m. Friday, May 29, according to a case report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
Upon arrival, the deputy found 15 to 20 juveniles outside the restaurant. They stated that while inside, a female spilled her drink, which upset the owner. He told the juveniles to leave as he grabbed and shoved two of them out the doors, the report said.
But the store owner advised that the juveniles were inside making a mess, so he asked them to leave. Surveillance footage showed they had climbed over chairs, knocked over displays, blocked the front door and caused a large mess. It also showed several of the juveniles passing a Dairy Queen cup around and refilling it with soda each time, the report said.
When the deputy went back outside to explain the owner’s rights regarding theft, a parent, later identified as Milbry, arrived. He tried to explain the situation to her until she stated she worked at an attorney’s office and wanted a supervisor. It was unknown how she was involved at the time, so she was told no and to call for one, the report said
She proceeded to pull out her phone and dial 911 to request a supervisor. With law enforcement already on scene, she was asked if she had an emergency. She reiterated that she needed a supervisor, the report said
Due to not having a life-or-death emergency, Milbry was taken into custody and placed in the back of a patrol car. She then complained of having a PICC line, or a catheter in the upper arm, installed. She also requested EMS for chest pain, the report said.
She later told EMS that she had just had her PICC line removed, and she has a pacemaker. She commented that she was just a little girl, as well, the report said.
Milbry was ultimately issued a misdemeanor citation for misusing 911 and released. She is due to appear in court on June 23.
