A Kissimmee woman was arrested after taking a child with her to steal $64 worth of items from Walmart.
A deputy responded to a theft involving 43-year-old Diane Marie Walters and a child at Walmart, 550 U.S. Hwy. 27, Clermont, at 10:45 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

An asset protection employee advised that Walters bagged several unscanned items at a self-checkout register. After checkout, she took the child to the back of the store to steal a 24-pack of Coca-Cola. They both then passed the final point of sale with $64.11 in stolen goods, the report said.
Walters later admitted she did not have a driver’s license and drove to the store with the child in the vehicle, the report said.
The South Carolina native was arrested on charges of retail theft and contributing to the delinquency of a child. She was booked at the Lake County Jail and released after posting $1,000 bond.
