A Clermont woman was arrested after allegedly attacking an employee and guests at an apartment complex pool.
Deputies responded to The Orchard at Cagan Crossings, 541 Avenida Cuarta, Clermont, regarding 38-year-old Mally Alejandra Posada chasing and attacking people in the pool area around 8:45 p.m. Wednesday, May 27, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
Posada left the pool area as law enforcement arrived, and they noticed that she appeared to be intoxicated. She slurred her speech and did not respond coherently to basic questions. She also smelled strongly of alcohol, the report said.
Another pool goer advised that he had seen Posada spit at the pool man while he was trying to close down the area. She chased after and attacked the pool man, who fled before she started attacking a married couple. She grabbed the first victim by the hair, slung her to the ground, got on top of her and strangled her, the report said.
Her wife tried to stop Posada, but she shoved and slapped her in response. Other people in the pool area attempted to break them up and called law enforcement for help, the report said.
The deputy then spoke with the first victim, who stated she saw when Posada attacked the pool man. She was packing up her stuff to leave when Posada came toward the couple and tried to take their belongings. She told Posada not to do that, to which she grabbed her by the hair, the report said.
After throwing the victim to the ground, causing abrasions and lacerations to both knees and her left foot, Posada grabbed her around the neck with both hands. She proceeded to apply enough pressure to cut off her airway and bit her left ear to cause severe pain, the report said.
The victim’s wife tried to defend her, only for Posada to hit her and hold her down on the pool deck. She was able to get free and call 911, the report said.
Before these interviews, Posada refused to comply with simple commands to stay seated away from the other parties. But once the deputies handcuffed her, she refused to walk to the patrol vehicle or get in. She slipped her cuffs in front of her, removed her seatbelt and completely broke free of one cuff. The deputies had to apply flexible wrist restraints and leg shackles to prevent her from getting free again inside the back of the patrol vehicle, the report said.
Posada was ultimately charged with battery by strangulation, simple battery, disorderly intoxication and resisting without violence. The New York native was booked at Lake County Jail without bond.
